Unapologetic Advocacy exists to educate, document, and mobilize people to demand accountability within disability service systems. We collect only what we need, we do not sell data, and we prioritize consent and transparency.
In plain language
We collect limited information so we can respond, organize, and advocate.

We use information to document patterns, expose systemic barriers, and push systems to change.

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Advocacy records & lived experience submissions
If you choose to submit advocacy records, documentation, or lived experience information through intake forms or other submissions:
- Submission is always voluntary
- Identifying information will not be shared publicly without explicit consent
- Information may be reviewed to identify patterns, barriers, and accountability failures within disability systems
- De-identified or aggregated information may be used for education, advocacy, storytelling, or public accountability efforts
Unapologetic Advocacy focuses on systemic accountability, not individual blame, and does not publish identifying information without consent.
You may request correction or removal of submitted information at any time.

Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to allow automatic approval of follow-up comments.
For users who register on the website (if any), we store the personal information provided in the user profile. Users may view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except usernames). Website administrators may also view and edit this information.
Advocacy-related submissions are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for documentation, accountability, or record-keeping purposes, unless removal is requested.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments or submissions, you may request:

- Erasure of your personal data
This does not include data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
We collect information about visitors who comment on sites that use the Akismet Anti-Spam service. Information collected typically includes the commenter’s IP address, browser user agent, referrer, site URL, and information directly provided by the commenter such as name, email address, and comment content.
